Ingredients

1 egg
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup yellow mustard
2 tablespoons white sugar
6 eggs
2 quarts oil for deep frying
12 ounces ground pork sausage
1 tablespoon dried parsley , crushed
2 teaspoons grated lemon zest
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon dried marjoram
salt and pepper to taste
1 egg , beaten
4 ounces dry bread crumbs
Scotch eggs, originally from Scotland, are a traditional British food enjoyed throughout the UK and beyond. These typical pub foods consist of a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat, coated in bread crumbs, and deep-fried. The Scotch egg is perfect as a snack or an appetizer. Instructions

1.In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, yellow mustard, and white sugar; set aside in the refrigerator.
2.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
3.Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, remove from heat, and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water; cool and peel.
4.Heat oil in deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
5.In a medium bowl, combine sausage, parsley, lemon zest, nutmeg, marjoram, salt, and pepper; mix well. Divide into 6 equal parts. Roll peeled eggs in flour to coat and shake off excess.
6.Place a portion of sausage mixture around each egg to cover completely and make an egg-shaped ball.
7.Beat egg in a small bowl. Place breadcrumbs in a shallow dish. Dip each ball into beaten egg and roll in breadcrumbs until coated.
8.Deep fry the coated balls in hot oil until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
9.Serve the Scotch eggs hot with mustard sauce.
