Ingredients

8 -10 matzos
1 cup chicken broth or 1 cup stock , warm
3 eggs , beaten with a little broth
1 1/2 lbs ground beef or 1 1/2 lbs lamb
1 onion , chopped
1 -2 garlic clove
1/4 cup fresh parsley , chopped
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup raisins , soaked in warm water
1 1/2 lbs spinach
1/2 lb button mushroom , sliced
2 medium onions , diced
1/4 cup pine nuts
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

4.Strain the raisins and add them to the meat mixture. Mix well.
5.In a separate pan, sauté the spinach, mushrooms, diced onions, and pine nuts until the vegetables are tender.
6.Add the nutmeg to the vegetable mixture and mix well.
7.In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and the chicken broth together.
8.Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish, and line the bottom with half of the soaked matzo pieces.
9.Add a layer of the meat mixture, followed by a layer of the vegetable mixture.
10.Repeat steps 8 and 9 with the remaining matzo, meat, and vegetable mixtures.
11.Pour the beaten egg and chicken broth mixture over the top of the Scacchi.
12.Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
13.Uncover the dish and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
