Sausage and Sage Pierogies are a delicious and hearty option for those looking for a comforting and filling meal. Pierogies are a traditional Polish dish, made from boiled dough filled with various savory or sweet fillings and then pan-fried. Typically served with sour cream or butter, these dumplings are a satisfying staple for many Eastern European families. This recipe adds a twist on the classic version by incorporating sausage, mushrooms and apples into the filling and creating a rich and creamy sauce to top it off.

Instructions

1.In a large non-stick skillet, cook sausage slices over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through, then remove from pan with a slotted spoon.
2.In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms, apple slices and sage leaves. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until mushrooms are browned and apple slices are tender.
3.Add frozen pierogies to the skillet and cook until heated through, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes.
4.In a separate small pot, whisk together sour cream, dill, half-and-half cream, chicken base, hot water and white wine, then pour the sauce over the pierogies and continue to cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally and until sauce is heated through.
5.Serve hot and enjoy!
