Ingredients

5 -6 lbs rump steak or 5 -6 lbs pot roast
2 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups red wine vinegar
2 onions , sliced
1 lemon , sliced
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
12 whole cloves
6 bay leaves
6 peppercorns
1/2 cup onion , chopped
1/2 cup carrot , chopped
1/4 cup celery , chopped
1 cup gingersnaps , crushed

Instructions

1.In a large mixer bowl, combine water, red wine vinegar, onions, lemon, sugar, salt and ginger.

3.The following morning, remove meat and reserve the marinade. Tie meat firmly and place in a crockpot.
4.Add onions, celery, carrots, cloves, bay leaves, peppercorns and reserved marinade to the pot and cook on low for 9 to 11 hours.
5.Remove the meat from the pot and keep warm.
6.Crush gingersnaps into the pot, stirring to mix until the mixture thickens.
7.Once the gravy is thick, strain. Place meat on platter and moten with the gravy as desired.
