1 tablespoon butter
3 cups beef broth
3 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup dry red wine

Instructions

1.Thinly slice the onions and sauté them in a large pot with a tablespoon of butter until they are golden brown.
2.Add the beef broth, chicken broth, and dry red wine to the pot, along with a sprig of fresh thyme, bay leaf, balsamic vinegar, black pepper, and salt to taste.
3.Simmer the mixture for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors meld together.
4.Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350°F and slice the baguette into 1/2 inch slices. Spread each slice with soft butter and place them on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy.
5.Once the soup is done, remove the thyme sprig and bay leaf. Ladle the soup into oven-safe bowls and place 2-3 slices of the toasted baguette on top.
