Ingredients

6 russet potatoes , scrubbed well , peeled and cut up into chunks ( depending on the size , I usually quarter or eighth )
8 ounces frozen green peas ( no need to thaw )
4 tablespoons butter ( or butter substitute )
salt and pepper , to taste ( I used a small pinch of white pepper )
milk ( or milk substitute-I warmed the milk first )

Instructions

1.Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until potatoes are fork-tender, about 15 minutes.
2.While the potatoes are cooking, cook the peas in a separate pot of boiling water for 3-4 minutes, until tender. Drain the peas and add them to a blender or food processor. Puree until smooth.
3.Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter and mash the potatoes with a potato masher or fork until relatively smooth.
4.Stir in the pureed peas and mix until well combined. If the mixture is too thick, add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve.
