1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 teaspoon baking powder

2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup honey

Named after the patron saint of artillerymen and miners, these cookies are traditionally made with sesame seeds instead of walnuts. Instructions

1.In a medium bowl, mix together the cooking oil, softened butter, 1/3 cup of sugar, and orange juice until well combined.
2.Add the baking powder and baking soda, and mix again until well combined.
3.Gradually add in the flour, mixing until just combined to form a soft dough.
4.In a separate bowl, mix together the remaining 3/4 cup sugar and honey to create the syrup for glazing.
5.Roll the dough into small balls, then press them down gently to flatten into circles.
6.Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, then bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown.
7.Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes.
8.Dip each cookie into the honey syrup, then coat generously with finely chopped walnuts.
9.Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving.
