1 cup dried red lentils , washed , drained ( or use brown lentils )
1 medium onion , finely chopped
2 garlic cloves , finely chopped

2 cups water
4 cups chicken broth

2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes ( see note in description )
salt & freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano or 1 tablespoon fresh oregano

Instructions
