Rozky is a classic Czech pastry that has been enjoyed for generations in Central Europe, especially during the Christmas holidays. It is said that its origins date back to the medieval period, when bakers used to prepare crescents to commemorate the victory of the Christian forces over the Ottoman Empire in the Battle of Vienna. Since then, Rozky has become a staple food in Czech cuisine and has gained popularity beyond its borders. Rozky is typically served at festive occasions, weddings, and other celebrations, and is enjoyed with a cup of hot chocolate, coffee, or tea. Its crescent shape symbolizes the arms embracing the sweetness of life.

Instructions

1.In a large bowl, cream together butter, cream cheese, and sour cream until smooth and fluffy.
2.Gradually add flour, 1/2 cup at a time, into the mixture and knead the dough until it becomes smooth. Divide the dough into 8 portions and refrigerate for at least an hour.
3.Preheat the oven to 350°F. On a floured surface, roll out each dough portion into a circle of about 1/4 inch thickness. Using a pizza cutter, cut the circle into 8 triangles.
4.Mix the walnuts and brown sugar in a bowl. Spread the mixture on each triangle and roll it up from the wider end towards the tip. Tuck the ends underneath to form a crescent shape.
5.Place the crescents on a baking sheet and brush them with egg white. Sprinkle them generously with granulated sugar.
6.Bake the crescents for 18-20 minutes until golden brown. Remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve and enjoy!

They might be too sweet for some people’s taste and high in calories and sugar.

HEALTH & BENEFITS
