Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs fresh fragrant red rose petals ( free of pesticides )
2 lbs white sugar
1 pint good brandy
1 pint cold water
Rose Cottage Fragrant Old English Rose Liqueur Syrup is a traditional English rose syrup recipe that has been passed down through generations. This syrup is made by infusing fresh red rose petals in sugar and adding a touch of brandy for extra flavor. The rose petals are carefully chosen for their sweet, delicate aroma and flavor, and are free from pesticides. The syrup can be used in a variety of ways to add a touch of sweetness to cocktails, desserts, and baked goods.

Instructions

1.Pick the rose petals from the stems and remove all the white, bitter bases. Give the petals a good rinse in a collander, allowing all excess water to drain away.
2.Put the rose petals into a large saucepan, add sugar and mix well. Allow to rest for at least an hour until the sugar has drawn out the petal oils.
3.Add the cold water to the pan (do not stir), and place on a very low heat. Simmer very gently until all sugar has dissolved.
4.Remove pan from heat, and stir in the brandy. Cover the pan and leave it to infuse for at least 24 hours.
5.Line a sieve or strainer with muslin and place it over a large bowl.
6.Pour the syrup through the muslin to catch the rose petals and any other sediment, squeezing gently to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids and bottle the syrup in individual glass bottles.
