1/2 onion , chopped
1 can of crushed Italian plum tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 bunch fresh basil , chopped
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
16 ounces water
olive oil
salt and pepper

Instructions

1.Heat a couple of tablespoons of olive oil in a large saucepan.
2.Add the chopped onion and cook over a medium heat until soft and translucent.
3.Add the can of crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce to the pan.
4.Add a tablespoon of tomato paste and a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the pan, stirring everything together.
5.Add a bunch of chopped fresh basil, 2 tablespoons of parmesan cheese, and 16 ounces of water to the pan.
6.Allow the sauce to simmer for around 30 minutes on a low heat, stirring occasionally.
7.Season the marinara sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
