Ingredients

5 braciola steaks
5 dill pickles
2 tablespoons brown mustard
1/2 lb bacon
1 medium onion
water
1/4 cup sherry wine
1/4 cup flour
Roladan is an Italian dish, made of braciola steaks stuffed with dill pickles and brown mustard, rolled up and wrapped in bacon, caramelized onions and covered in sherry wine sauce. This dish has roots from Southern Italy and is perfect for wintery nights. It takes some time to prepare but it is definitely worth it because of the burst of flavors in every bite. Instructions

1.Cut each braciola steak in half and pound them to 1/4-inch thickness.
2.Season both sides of each piece of meat with salt and black pepper.
3.Spread brown mustard evenly on top of each piece of braciola.
4.Place a slice of dill pickle on top of the mustard.
5.Roll up each piece of braciola tightly, tucking in the sides as you go.
6.Wrap each braciola roll-up with two slices of bacon and secure them with toothpicks.
7.In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat.
8.Brown the braciola roll-ups on all sides in the pot, then remove them and set them aside.
9.Add sliced onions to the pot and sauté them until softened.
10.Return the braciola roll-ups to the pot and add enough water to cover them halfway.
11.Add sherry wine and sprinkle flour over everything.
12.Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover the pot.
13.Simmer everything for 2-3 hours, or until the meat is tender and the sauce has thickened.
14.Remove toothpicks before serving.
