4 large pears , peeled , cored and quartered ( I use Bosc )
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
3 large eggs
1 1/3 cups half and half milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar , plus
1 tablespoon packed light brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 pinch salt
