Ingredients

1 large head cabbage
3 cups cooked rice
1 lb bacon
1 large onion
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons dill weed
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Real Ukrainian Cabbage Rolls are a traditional dish that is typically served during special occasions, such as weddings or holidays. These rolls are both savory and satisfying, making them a great choice for a hearty meal. They can be served with a variety of sauces or toppings to fit your personal taste preferences.

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.Bring a large pot of water to a boil, then remove the core of the cabbage.
3.Carefully lower the head of cabbage into the boiling water, and cook for approximately 5 minutes until the outer layers are soft.
4.Remove cabbage head from pot and set aside to cool.
5.In a large skillet, cook the bacon until it is crispy. Remove from the skillet and chop.
6.Leave a few tablespoons bacon grease in the skillet and add onions and garlic. Saute until onions are translucent.
7.In a separate bowl, mix together rice, bacon, onion mixture, dill weed, and vegetable oil.
8.Once cabbage cools, remove 8-10 leaves from the head and chop the rest of the cabbage.
9.In the center of each cabbage leaf, place a few spoonfuls of the rice mixture.
10.Roll each leaf tightly around the mixture and place seam-side down into a baking dish.
11.Pour 1/4 cup of water into the dish and cover with foil.
12.Bake in preheated oven for 1 ½ hour.
13.Remove from oven and enjoy!
