Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter , room temperature
1 3/4 cups sugar
7 eggs , separated
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 tablespoons grated orange rind
2 cups sifted cake flour
1/2 cup farina ( Cream of Wheat )
1/3 cup slivered almonds
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups water
1 teaspoon lemon juice
3 cinnamon sticks
10 whole cloves
3 tablespoons Grand Marnier
Ravani is a traditional Greek dessert, made with farina (Cream of Wheat), butter, and sugar. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350F (180C).
2.Cream butter with sugar in a standing mixer. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each

5.Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with water. Mix well.
6.In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Slowly fold egg whites into the batter.
7.Pour batter into a greased 9x13 inch (23x33cm) baking dish. Top with slivered almonds.
8.Bake for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown.
9.In a saucepan, combine lemon juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves, Grand Marnier and water. Bring to boil, then reduce heat and cook for 5 minutes, stirring continuously. Strain the mixture.
10.Pour hot syrup over the hot cake. Let cool before cutting and serving.
