Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef ( at least 80 % )
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons fresh basil leaves , chopped or 1/2 teaspoon basil leaves , dried
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
1 garlic cloves , finely chopped or 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 egg
3/4 cup progresso plain breadcrumbs
1 small onion , chopped
1/2 cup red bell peppers or 1/2 cup green bell pepper , chopped
1/4 cup ketchup , chili sauce or 1/4 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2.In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, milk, Worcestershire sauce, chopped basil, salt, ground mustard, pepper, garlic, egg, and breadcrumbs until well combined.
3.Add in the chopped onion and bell pepper and mix until evenly distributed.
4.Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x5 in. loaf pan and smooth out the surface.
5.Spread the ketchup, chili sauce, or barbecue sauce over the top of the meat loaf.
6.Bake for about 1 hour or until a meat thermometer inserted into the center of the loaf reads 160°F.
7.Allow the meat loaf to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
