225 ml sugar | |
225 ml all-purpose flour | |
1 tablespoon cocoa powder | |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda | |
1/2 teaspoon salt | |
1 teaspoon vanilla sugar ( or extract ) | |
300 g sour cream | |
115 ml water | |
3 tablespoons sugar | |
1 tablespoon cognac | |
300 g butter | |
1 can sweetened condensed milk , plus | |
1 tablespoon cocoa powder ( or use sweetened condensed chocolate milk ) | |
150 g semisweet chocolate | |
30 g butter | |
6 tablespoons heavy cream | |
5 tablespoons powdered sugar | |
3 tablespoons cocoa powder ( optional ) |
1. | Preheat oven to 350°F. |
2. | Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan. |
3. | In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. |
4. | Add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and vanilla sugar (or extract) and mix until well combined. |
5. | Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth top with a spatula. |
6. | Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. |
7. | While cake is baking, prepare the icing. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sour cream, water, sugar, and cognac. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. |
8. | Remove from heat and stir in butter and sweetened condensed milk until melted and well combined. |
9. | Pour icing over cake, spreading evenly. |
10. | In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate and butter together in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. |
11. | Stir in heavy cream, powdered sugar, and optional cocoa powder until well combined. |
12. | Let chocolate mixture cool for a few minutes before drizzling over cake. |
13. | Serve and enjoy! |
