Ingredients

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
2 cups finely ground blanched almonds
4 egg yolks , beaten
6 egg yolks , beaten
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Toucinho do ceu which translates to “bacon from heaven” is a popular Portuguese dessert that dates back to the 16th Century. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 160°C. Grease a 9-inch cake tin with baking spray or butter.
2.In a medium-sized stainless steel saucepan, mix the sugar and water together and heat slowly over low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Turn the heat up to medium and bring to a boil.
3.Once boiling, reduce the heat back down to low and add in the ground almonds while stirring constantly.
4.Add the beaten egg yolks and cinnamon to the mixture, stir until blended and remove from heat immediately.
5.Pour mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
6.Remove the toucinho do ceu from the oven and let it cool to room temperature before slicing and serving.
