Ingredients

3 -4 lbs roast ( arm , chuck , etc . )
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon dry mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce ( a little less than 1 Tbsp . )
Poor Boys-Italian Beef sandwich is a classic comfort food dish, hailing from the Midwest in the United States. It typically consists of thinly sliced beef that has been seasoned and slow-cooked with Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and dry mustard, then stuffed into a hoagie roll and topped with any number of additions, such as sweet peppers, mozzarella cheese or giardiniera. While it may have originated in the 1930s depression era, it remains a popular and delicious sandwich to this day.

Instructions

1.Combine salt, pepper, garlic powder and dry mustard in a small mixing bowl to create a seasoning mix.
2.Rub the seasoning liberally over the roast.
3.Set oven to broil and place roast on a baking dish.
4.Broil roast for 15 minutes on both sides until it has a nice crust.
5.Turn oven to 325 and place the roast in the oven.
6.In a separate mixing bowl, combine Worcestershire sauce and 1 cup of water.
7.Pour half of the mixture over the roast, cover with foil and let it cook for 3-4 hours or until the meat is tender.
8.Remove from oven and allow the beef to rest for 10 minutes.
9.Shred the beef with forks and mix it with the remaining juices.
10.Stuff beef and juices into hoagie rolls and serve hot.

PROS

Poor Boys-Italian Beef sandwich is an extremely satisfying meal that is filling and hearty, great for a lunch or dinner.
