Polish Kopytka is a classic dish originating from Southern Poland's mountainous region. Kopytka translates to horseshoes in Polish, referring to the dumplings' distinctive shape. Instructions

1.Boil the potatoes, peel and mash them in a large bowl.
2.Add egg, flour, salt, and knead the ingredients together until they form a smooth dough.
3.Roll out the dough to form 1/2-inch-thick ropes and cut them into 1-inch pieces.
4.Boil the dumplings in salted water for 3-4 minutes or until they float to the surface.
5.In a skillet, heat 3 tablespoons of butter and cook the chopped onions until they are caramelized.
6.Add salt and pepper to taste and set aside.
7.In another skillet, melt 1/4 cup butter and add breadcrumbs. Cook and stir until golden brown.
8.Serve the dumplings hot, topped with caramelized onion and breadcrumbs mixture.
