2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour , divided
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 package active dry yeast
2/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
2 eggs
5 whole eggs , dyed if desired
2 tablespoons butter , melted

Instructions

1.In a large bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour, sugar, salt and yeast.
2.In a small saucepan, heat milk and butter until warm. Add to the flour mixture, followed by eggs and 1/2 cup flour. Mix until smooth.
3.Add enough remaining flour to form a firm dough, and knead on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes.
4.Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover and let it rest for 10 minutes.
5.Divide the dough into three equal parts and roll each into a 20 inch long rope.
6.Braid the ropes together and transfer onto a greased baking sheet.
7.Tuck in the coloured eggs between the braids.
8.Brush the bread with melted butter and allow it to rise for an hour.
9.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
10.Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the bread is golden brown.
11.Cool on a wire rack and serve.
