Ingredients

3 sheets frozen puff pastry
12 ounces pizza sauce
1 lb shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup sliced onion
1/2 cup sliced black olives
1 roasted red pepper
1/2 cup thinly sliced pepperoni
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
2 tablespoons sun-dried tomatoes
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
Pizza Strata is a twist on traditional pizza, using puff pastry instead of pizza dough. It is a meal in itself packed with all your favorite pizza toppings like mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, olives, onions, and more. Once you get the hang of it, you can customize it with your favorite toppings or use up leftover ingredients from other meals. Perfect for family gatherings, parties or weeknight dinners. This easy to make recipe will soon become a family favorite.

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish
2.Defrost the puff pastry sheets and cut them into small squares
3.Mix the pizza sauce with the chopped garlic, olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes, salt and black pepper.
4.Layer the puff pastry squares on the bottom of the greased baking dish
5.Spoon half of the pizza sauce mixture over the puff pastry squares. Add a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese, sliced onions, black olives, roasted red peppers and pepperoni. Repeat another layer of puff pastry, pizza sauce mixture, cheese, onions, olives, pepperoni and roasted red peppers on top of the first layer. Finish with another layer of mozzarella cheese.
6.Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the top is golden brown.

PROS

This delicious Pizza Strata is easy to make, family-friendly, and can feed a crowd.

It can be prepared in advance and refrigerated until ready to bake.

It can use any leftover or favorite pizza toppings.

CONS

This Pizza Strata recipe is not ideal for those following a low-carb or gluten-free diet.
