Ingredients

200 g marzipan , cut into smallish cubes
175 g butter , softened
175 g sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
3 eggs
300 g plain flour , sieved
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 can pineapple chunks , drained

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C (fan 160°C/350°F/gas 4). Grease a 20cm/8in springform cake tin.
2.In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy. Add the vanilla sugar and eggs, one at a time, beating well between each addition.
3.Fold in the flour and baking powder until you have a smooth batter. Gently fold in the cubes of marzipan and the drained pineapple chunks.
4.Pour the mixture into the prepared cake tin, level the top and bake for 45–50 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
5.Leave the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
