Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs dried whole pigeon peas
6 cups water
3 drops canola oil ( to prevent foaming if using pressure cooker )

Instructions

1.Rinse the dried pigeon peas under cold water until the water runs clear.

4.Add a few drops of canola oil to prevent foaming in a pressure cooker.

7.Once the peas are cool, transfer them to a food processor or blender and blend until you reach the desired consistency.
8.Add water as needed to thin the paste out, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
9.Serve the pigeon pea paste hot with rice or naan bread.
