Ingredients

4 1/2 - 6 cups unbleached flour
2 packages dry active yeast

3/4 cup Crisco shortening

1 teaspoon lemon , rind of , grated
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon milk
9 large eggs
6 eggs , dye , uncooked and set aside to dry

Instructions

3.Add the yeast mixture to the egg mixture and mix until well combined.

5.On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for around 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
6.Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for around 2 hours.
7.Punch the dough down and divide it into equal halves. Shape each half into a braided loaf and place it on a baking sheet.
8.Place one uncooked, dyed egg in the center of each loaf, making sure they are secure. Cover the loaves and let them rise for 1 hour.
9.Preheat the oven to 350°F. Brush the loaves with a mixture of milk and vegetable oil. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and fully cooked. Cool the loaves before serving.
