Pepper Nuts Cookies (Pfeffernusse), also known as German spiced cookies, are a traditional German Christmas delicacy. These cookies originated in 16th-century Germany and have been a winter favorite ever since. These spiced cookies are commonly made with a mixture of flour, sugar, and spices, especially black pepper and cloves, which give these cookies their unique spicy taste. The cookies then undergo the special process of maturation for at least a day or two, up to a week, in the refrigerator, where they develop and enhance their flavor. The brandy coating gives cookies a delicious boozy flavor and is an essential part of the recipe. These cookies are perfect for snack time, tea parties, and Christmas celebrations with family and friends.
