Ingredients

1/2 cup basmati rice
1/2 cup channa dal
1/2 cup split black gram Urad Dal ( skinless )
1 teaspoon whole black peppercorn
1 whole red chili pepper
1/2 inch fresh ginger
1 pinch asafoetida powder
4 fresh curry leaves

Pepper Adai is a traditional South Indian breakfast dish that originated in Tamil Nadu. It is a crispy pancake made with rice, channa dal, and urad dal, flavored with black pepper, red chili, ginger, and curry leaves. Instructions

1.Rinse the rice, channa dal, and urad dal in several changes of water and soak them for 2-3 hours.
2.Drain the soaked ingredients and place them in a blender along with peppercorns, red chili, ginger, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Add 1/2 cup of water and blend to a smooth batter.
3.Transfer the batter to a mixing bowl, add salt and mix well.
4.Heat a skillet over medium flame and add a few drops of oil. Pour a ladleful of batter on the skillet and spread it evenly to form a pancake.
5.Drizzle some oil around the edges of the pancake and cook until it turns golden brown on both sides.
6.Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make more pancakes.
7.Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
