Ingredients

6 ripe pears
3 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon allspice
1 pinch salt
1 cup pomegranate seeds
8 sheets frozen phyllo dough
1 1/4 cups butter , melted
powdered sugar
green colored crystal sugar
red colored crystal sugar
1 package red cake decorating gel

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.Peel and chop pears into small pieces.
3.Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a large pan over medium heat.
4.Add pears, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt to the pan. Cook for 10-15 minutes, or until pears are tender and mixture has thickened.
5.Add pomegranate seeds to the pan and stir well.
6.On a work surface, lay out 1 sheet of phyllo dough and brush with melted butter. Add another sheet on top and brush with butter again. Repeat until all sheets have been used.
7.Spread the pear and pomegranate mixture on top of the phyllo dough. Leave a 1-inch border around the edge.
8.Carefully roll up the strudel, tucking in the ends to seal it.
9.Brush the top of the strudel with melted butter.
10.Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
11.Let the strudel cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
12.Sprinkle with powdered sugar, green and red colored crystal sugar, and drizzle with red cake decorating gel.
