Instructions

.Slice the French bread into 20 slices, each one inch thick. Cover with a kitchen towel and allow to sit overnight to stale.
.Next morning, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange the bread slices evenly in the dish.
.In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Pour this mixture over the bread, making sure each slice is fully coated. Cover with foil and refrigerate for at least half an hour or overnight.
.In the meantime, prepare the syrup. Melt the butter on a medium heat. Add the pecans, corn syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Next, add the raspberry preserves and stir until smooth. Add the water and liqueur. Stir well and allow to cool.
.When you're ready to bake the casserole, remove the foil and bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set. Remove from the oven and allow it to rest for 10 minutes before serving with the raspberry syrup.
