Pate Chinois Casserole is a traditional Canadian dish that originated in Quebec. The dish was originally made with pork and was served to the Chinese railway workers who helped build the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Over time, the recipe evolved to include beef and creamed corn, and it remains a popular comfort food in Quebec and other French-speaking parts of Canada. The name Pate Chinois refers to the dish's purported resemblance to a Chinese meat pie, although it has no real connection to Chinese cuisine.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 400°F.
2.Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until onions are fragrant and translucent, stirring occasionally.
3.In a separate pot, boil the chopped potatoes until they are soft. Mash the potatoes with the milk, butter, salt, and pepper until they reach a smooth, creamy consistency.
4.In a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, spread the creamed corn in an even layer. Add a layer of the ground beef and onions, then spoon the mashed potatoes over the top.
5.Bake the casserole for 20-25 minutes or until the potatoes are golden brown on top and the filling is bubbling.
6.Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
