1/2 cup white poppy seeds
1 cup cashews
1 cup sliced almonds
1 seeded jalapeno pepper
4 cloves garlic ( or as much as you can handle )

4 chopped green onions
1 bunch chopped cilantro
1 large yellow onion , chopped
vegetable oil
basmati rice
Pakistani Rice with Lentils and Nut Sauce, also known as Daal Chawal, is a traditional Pakistani dish that has gained popularity worldwide. Instructions

1.Rinse the lentils and soak in water overnight in a covered bowl.

3.Drain the lentils and place in a large pot. Add 6 cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for about 20 minutes or until tender.
4.In a food processor, pulse the jalapeno pepper, garlic, and toasted nuts into a thick paste. Add a pinch of salt and set aside.
5.Heat 1/4 cup of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown, stirring occasionally. Add cilantro, green onions, and the nut paste to the skillet. Cook everything for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
6.In another pot, cook the basmati rice according to package directions.
7.Serve lentils and nut sauce over basmati rice.
