1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons Crisco shortening
3 cups flour
1 egg , slightly beaten
1 cake yeast
1/4 cup lukewarm water
5 potatoes , peeled , chopped and boiled
1 teaspoon salt
4 ounces American cheese
4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese
2 small onions , chopped
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup butter , browned

Instructions

1.Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and set aside for 10 minutes.
2.In a separate bowl, mix scalded milk, salt, sugar, and shortening. Let cool.
3.Add yeast mixture to the milk mixture.
4.Gradually add flour and mix well until dough is formed.
5.Knead dough on a floured surface.
6.Cover and let rise for an hour.
7.Cook chopped onions in butter until soft.
8.Add potatoes, salt, and cheese; mix until cheese melts.
9.Divide dough into two and flatten each into round circles.
10.Place one circle onto a greased baking sheet.
11.Add filling to the first circle and spread evenly.
12.Cover the filling with the other circle and seal the edges.
13.Brush the top with browned butter.
14.Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350°F.
