Ingredients

4 tablespoons butter
10 slices bread or 10 slices challah
7 eggs
1 3/4 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons real maple syrup
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1.Grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon of butter.
2.Cut the remaining butter into small pieces and dot them over the bottom of the dish.
3.Cover bottom with 5 slices of bread.
4.Beat together eggs, milk, sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt in a large bowl until smooth.
5.Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread.
6.Add another layer of bread and pour the remaining egg mixture on top.
7.Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate overnight.
8.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
9.Bake the dish covered for 30 minutes and then uncover and bake for another 30 minutes till the top of the bread toasts.
