Ingredients

6 large pears , cored and peeled but stems intact
3 teaspoons sugar
3 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
3/4 teaspoon ground fennel
1 pinch black pepper
2 tablespoons raisins
2 tablespoons ouzo
3 tablespoons butter
1 sheet puff pastry , cut into 6 rectangles
1 egg , lightly beaten together with
1 tablespoon water
This Ouzo Spiced Pears wrapped in Puff Pastry recipe combines ripe pears spiced up with cinnamon, fennel, nutmeg and pepper. These pears are then wrapped in a delicate layer of puff pastry infused with Greek Ouzo, adding a sensational twist to the classical French dessert. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
2.Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, fennel and black pepper in a small bowl.
3.Toss the raisins with the ouzo in another bowl. Let sit for around 5 minutes.
4.Melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
5.Add the spice mixture to the pan and stir.
6.Add the pears to the pan and cook for about 2 minutes.
7.Remove the pears from heat and leave them to cool slightly.
8.Place each pear on a square of puff pastry.
9.Brush the pastry edges with the egg wash.
10.Bring the puff pastry up to meet at the top of the pear and twist the top to seal.
11.Place all of the wrapped pears on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and brush them with the egg wash.
12.Bake in the preheated oven for around 18-22 minutes until golden.
