24 frozen mini tart shells

2 lbs yellow onions , peeled and thinly sliced
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons white wine

2 ounces gruyere or 2 ounces emmenthaler cheese , finely grated
1 teaspoon fresh thyme , plus extra for garnish
1 egg , slightly beaten

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

5.Stir in wine and black pepper; cook for additional 2 minutes.
6.Let the onion mixture cool for a few minutes then fold in grated cheese, fresh thyme and egg.
7.Spoon the filling into tart shells, filling each shell about 2/3 full.
8.Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until filling has puffed up and is golden brown.
