1 package active dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 cup water
3 eggs , beaten
2 cups milk , warm
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 lb raisins ( Many people from the old country would set store bought raisins in water to soak overnight . )
4 cups flour
1 tablespoon salt

Instructions

1.In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in water and let stand for 10 minutes.
2.In a large bowl, beat eggs, warm milk, and corn syrup.
3.Add the yeast mixture and stir until well combined.
4.Add raisins, flour, and salt, and mix until a dough forms.
5.Cover the bowl with a cloth and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
6.Heat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375°F.
7.Use a metal spoon to scoop out the dough mixture, and carefully drop into the hot oil.
8.Fry each side for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
9.Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel.
10.Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
