Ingredients

300 ml water
150 g sugar
2 large lemons , zest of
10 -12 lemon verbena leaves , slightly crushed in a mortar and pestle
lemon verbena leaf , to garnish
This Old-Fashioned Lemon Verbena Lemonade Syrup is the perfect refreshing drink for a hot summer day. The combination of zesty lemon and fragrant verbena creates a perfectly balanced flavor. Plus, since the syrup can be customized to your personal taste, you can make it as sweet or as tangy as you prefer. However, since this drink contains added sugar, it's important to consume in moderation.

Instructions

1.In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, lemon zest, and lemon verbena leaves.
2.Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally until sugar has dissolved.
3.Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 10-15 minutes or until syrup has thickened slightly.
4.Remove from heat and strain out lemon zest and verbena leaves.
5.Let cool completely.
6.Squeeze the lemons into the syrup and stir well.
7.Transfer syrup to a jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
8.To make lemonade, mix 1 part syrup with 3 parts water and garnish with a sprig of lemon verbena. Enjoy!
