Ingredients

4 -5 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon sugar
3 tablespoons yeast ( or 3 1/4 ounce packets )
1/2 cup butter
1 2/3 cups milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup unsalted butter , softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 egg , beaten , to glaze
Norwegian Cinnamon Rolls, or Kanelboller, are a staple of Norwegian cuisine, often enjoyed as a sweet breakfast or snack with coffee or tea. Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
2.In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat, then add the milk and raise the temperature to lukewarm.
3.Add the lukewarm milk mixture and eggs to the flour mixture, and mix well.
4.Continue to add more flour (up to 5 cups) until the dough becomes soft yet not too sticky.
5.Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-10 minutes or until it becomes smooth.
6.Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for around 1 hour.
7.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
8.Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
9.Spread the softened butter onto the dough, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
10.Roll the dough carefully, then cut it into 1 1/2 inch pieces.
11.Place the cinnamon rolls into a greased baking pan, leaving some space between each roll.
12.Cover and let the rolls rise for another 15-20 minutes, or until they double in size.
13.Glaze the rolls with a beaten egg, then bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
