2 teaspoons paprika ( red , dried , sweet )
1/2 teaspoon paprika ( red , dried , hot )
15 g salt
10 g pepper
1 cup wine ( white , dry )
2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 tablespoon flour
1/4 teaspoon caraway seed ( optional )
50 g sour cream ( optional )

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 180°C.
2.Heat lard or oil in a large, oven-safe pot or casserole dish over medium heat. Saute the sliced onions for about 5 minutes or until softened and golden in color.

4.Add schnitzels to the pot or casserole dish and brown them on both sides.
5.Add a cup of white wine and 2 cups of water to the pot, and stir well.
6.Add thyme and caraway seed, if using, and bring the mixture to a boil.
7.Cover the pot with an oven-safe lid and bake for 90 minutes.
8.In a small bowl, whisk flour and sour cream together, and then stir the mixture into the pot.
9.Bake for another 10 minutes, uncovered, until the sauce has thickened slightly.
10.Serve with mashed potatoes or bread, garnished with fresh parsley or chives.
