Nicole's Baklava Bites are inspired by the traditional Mediterranean sweet pastry, Baklava, made of layers of phyllo dough filled with finely chopped nuts and sweetened with syrup or honey. These bites use puff pastry instead of phyllo dough and are an easy-to-make option for last-minute parties and events. They can be served hot or cold, and with the addition of some vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, the sweetness is perfectly balanced. If you're fond of sweets, make sure to try out this recipe.

Instructions

.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
.On a lightly floured surface, roll out puff pastry to ¼-inch (6-mm) thickness.
.In a mixing bowl, combine walnuts, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, allspice, and salt.
.Spread the mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a 1/2-inch (1-cm) border around the edges.
.Drizzle honey over the top of the nut mixture, then brush melted butter onto the edges of the pastry.
.Starting at the short end, roll the pastry into a tight log, sealing the edges with a bit of water.
.Slice the log into equal-sized pieces, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick.
.Place the pieces in a muffin tin, and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
