Ingredients

1 1/4 cups basmati rice
1/3 teaspoon cumin seed , to your desire
1/2 teaspoon turmeric , to your desire
1 bay leaf
6 whole cloves
2 black cardamom pods
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger , finely minced
1 teaspoon garlic , finely minced
3 green chilies , sliced in half
1 large yellow onion , chopped
1/2 large tomatoes , chopped
1/2 cup green peas
salt , to taste
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

1.Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.

6.Add soaked and drained rice and stir to combine.
7.Add salt and enough water to cover the rice by about 1 inch.
8.Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until all the water has been absorbed and the rice is fully cooked.
9.Remove from heat, add fresh lemon juice, and fluff the rice with a fork. Serve hot.
