Ingredients

Dough :
1 cup sour cream , at room temperature
2 teaspoons white sugar
1 ( .25 ounce ) package active dry yeast
1 egg
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter
Filling :
1 pound butter , melted
2 1/2 cups white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 egg whites
Glaze :
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon plain yogurt
Nazook is a sweet pastry that originated in Iran and is now enjoyed around the world. Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, white sugar, and active dry yeast. Leave it aside for 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
2.Add in the egg, white vinegar, vegetable oil, and 2 cups of all-purpose flour. Mix until it forms a smooth dough.
3.Slowly add in the remaining cup of flour and mix it well.
4.Knead the dough for 5 to 10 minutes and then cover it and leave it in a warm place for 1 hour to rise.
5.In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, white sugar, vanilla extract, and all-purpose flour to make the filling.
6.Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface to around 1/8 inch thickness.
7.Spread the filling over the top of the dough and then cut it into diamond shapes using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
8.In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and plain yogurt to make the glaze.
9.Brush the glaze over the tops of the pastries and then bake them in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
