1 pound hot Italian sausage , casings removed

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper , or to taste

Instructions

1.In a large skillet, cook the sausages and ground beef until browned, breaking the meat up into small pieces as you cook it.
2.Drain the fat from the skillet, then transfer the meat to a slow cooker.
3.Add the onion, garlic, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, chicken broth, Cabernet Sauvignon, Italian herb seasoning, basil, salt, and black pepper to the slow cooker.
4.Stir everything together, then cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally.
