Ingredients

200 ml water
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon dry active yeast
225 g plain whole wheat flour
225 g self-rising flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
3 -4 cloves garlic , finely chopped ( depending on preference ) ( optional )
3 tablespoons fresh coriander , finely chopped ( optional )
Naan bread is a traditional Indian bread that is commonly served with curries, palak paneer, butter chicken, and many other dishes. It is a yeast-based bread that is typically baked in a tandoor oven, but can also be made at home in a regular oven. In this recipe, we have added garlic and coriander-cilantro to the bread to add extra flavor. Naan bread is a great option for those who are gluten-free or have celiac disease, as it can be made with gluten-free flours as well.

Instructions

1.In a small bowl, combine water, sugar and yeast. Stir well and let it sit for 10 minutes.
2.In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, self-rising flour, salt, lemon juice, garlic and coriander. Mix well.
3.Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well to form a dough. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
4.Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour.
5.Preheat the oven to 500℉/260℃.
6.Divide the dough into 6-8 pieces and flatten each piece into an oval shape.
7.Place the naan dough on a baking tray and bake for 5-10 minutes, or until the bread is lightly browned and puffy.
