Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef
2 teaspoons sweet paprika
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
3 garlic cloves , mashed to a puree or 3 garlic , minced finely
1 can diced tomatoes , I use fresh in season
3/4 lb green beans , trimmed and cut in half
1 cup diced carrot ( optional )
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

1.Preheat a deep and wide pot over medium heat on the stove.
2.Add ground beef to the pot and break it up with a wooden spoon while it cooks, draining off any excess liquid.
3.Add sweet paprika, turmeric, ground ginger, salt, pepper, garlic puree and diced tomatoes to the ground beef, mixing thoroughly and letting the mixture cook for about 5 minutes.
4.Add green beans and diced carrot (optional) to the pot and let it cook for another 10 minutes or until they are tender.
5.Once the vegetables are cooked, add freshly squeezed lemon juice to the pot and give the mixture a final stir.
6.Serve hot with crusty bread or cooked rice.
