Muffuletta Spread Mix is a flavorful and tangy prepared food, originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. The basic recipe involves several pickled vegetables, typically pickled cucumbers, cauliflower, and carrots. This particular recipe is inspired by the traditional Muffuletta sandwich, which features olive salad and cured meats. The spread is made by combining chopped olives, roasted red peppers, the pickled cherry and pepperoncini peppers, capers, garlic, shallots, anchovies, olive oil, and pepper flakes. This vibrant and chunky spread is delicious when used to make a classic Muffuletta sandwich or as a dip for nachos, pretzels, or breadsticks. Muffuletta Spread Mix is a perfect recipe for casual gatherings or hosting parties. It can be made in advance and refrigerated until needed, making it a convenient option for busy hosts.

Instructions

1.Rinse and drain all the peppers, olives, and artichoke hearts, and then pat them dry with paper towels.
2.Finely chop the cherry peppers, pepperoncini, roasted red pepper, black and green olives, and the artichoke hearts. Avoid blending them in a mixer as that could turn them into a paste, and you want to keep the spread chunky.
3.In a bowl, roughly chop the capers, anchovy fillets, garlic, and shallots. Combine these ingredients with the olive oil and mix well.
4.Fold in the chopped olives and peppers, and mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Add chilli pepper flakes to taste if desired.
5.Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap, and let everything marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.
