Ingredients

1/2 lb lean ground beef ( optional ) or 1/2 lb turkey sausage , with casing removed ( optional )
1 large onion , diced
2 garlic cloves , minced
2 cans tomato sauce
2 cups sliced mushrooms ( optional )
1 cup tomato juice or 1 cup water
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil
1 container ricotta cheese
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
8 ounces mueller 's lasagna noodles , uncooked
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese , divided ( I always use closer to 4 cups )
1 cup grated parmesan cheese , divided
Mueller's Quick "no Boil" Cheesy Lasagna is a great option for a hassle-free weeknight meal. The dish is filled with a variety of flavors and textures, from the meaty ground beef/turkey sausage, to the creamy ricotta and melted mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. Best of all, the recipe requires no boiling of the lasagna noodles beforehand - simply layer them in with the other ingredients and let the oven do the work. While not the healthiest meal option, this lasagna is a great way to indulge in a delicious comfort food dish from time to time.

Instructions

1.In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink.
2.Stir in the tomato sauce, mushrooms (if using), tomato juice or water, and basil.
3.In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper.
4.Spread 1 cup of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
5.Layer in the following order: 1/2 of the uncooked lasagna noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese, and 1/2 cup of the parmesan cheese.
6.Repeat layers, ending with the remaining meat sauce.
7.Cover with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated 375 degree F oven for 45 minutes.
8.Uncover and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheeses.
9.Bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
10.Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

This lasagna is quick and easy to make, with no need to boil the noodles beforehand.

The mix of meats (beef or turkey sausage) and cheeses make for a hearty and tasty meal.
