6 -10 peppercorns
1 inch orange peel or 1 inch tangerine peel

Instructions

1.Place the eggs in a pot and cover them with about an inch of cold water. Bring the water to a boil.
2.Once the water starts boiling, reduce the heat and let the eggs simmer for about ten minutes.
3.After ten minutes, remove the eggs with a slotted spoon and place them in a bowl of cold water. Let them cool down completely.
4.Once the eggs have cooled down, use a spoon to tap all around them to crack the shell slightly. Do not peel them.
5.Combine the soy sauce, salt, star anise, five-spice powder, tea leaves, peppercorns, and orange peel in a pot with 3 cups of water. Let the mixture come to a boil.
6.Gently place the eggs into the soy sauce mixture, making sure they are fully submerged.
7.Cover the pot and bring the mixture to a boil again, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for an hour.
8.Turn off the heat and let the eggs steep in the mixture for another hour.
9.Remove the eggs from the pot and gently peel them. Serve them warm or at room temperature.
