Ingredients

14 ounces unsalted butter , chilled & cut into 1/4-inch bits
1/4 cup sunflower oil
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 -8 tablespoons ice water
1/2 cup blanched slivered almond
1 tablespoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons orange blossom water , divided ( orange blossom extract )
1 can prepared almond paste , softened
4 tablespoons unsalted butter , softened
1 egg
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Moroccan Gazelle Horns, also known as Kab El Ghzal or Cornes De Gazelle, are a traditional Moroccan pastry that has been enjoyed for centuries. These crescent-shaped pastries are filled with a sweet, nutty almond paste that is flavored with cinnamon and orange blossom water. They are delicate and flaky, with a slightly chewy texture that makes them the perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea or coffee. In Morocco, they are often served during Ramadan and other special occasions.

Instructions

1.In a food processor, pulse the butter with the sunflower oil, flour, and salt until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
2.Add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, pulsing, until the mixture just forms a dough.
3.Transfer the dough to a work surface and knead 2 or 3 times to incorporate any dry bits.
4.Divide the dough into 4 pieces.
5.Preheat oven to 350°F.
6.In the bowl of a food processor, pulse the almonds with the sugar and cinnamon until the almonds are finely ground, then pulse in 2 tablespoons of the orange blossom water.
7.Mix together the softened almond paste and butter until smooth.
8.Place each piece of dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll each piece into a 12-inch log.
9.Cut each log into 12 pieces.
10.Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten each ball into a small disc with your fingers.
11.Place a small amount of the almond filling in the center of each disc.
12.Bring the edges of the disc together over the filling and pinch the dough together to make a horn shape.
13.Place the horns on a non-stick baking sheet and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until golden brown.
14.Mix together the powdered sugar and the remaining 1 tablespoon of orange blossom water in a small bowl.
15.Brush the glaze over the horns after they are cooled.
