Ingredients

1 teaspoon cornflour ( cornstarch )
1 tablespoon soy sauce ( salt-reduced )
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
2 teaspoons black bean sauce
1/2 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder
1 teaspoon olive oil
500 g lamb steaks ( leg trimmed of fat and cut across the grain into strips )
1 brown onion ( cut into wedges )
100 g button mushrooms ( sliced )
2 celery ribs ( thinly sliced diagonally )
1 zucchini ( large halved lengthways , thinly sliced )
3 carrots ( Halved lengthways thinly sliced )
1/4 Chinese cabbage ( shredded )
2 garlic cloves ( minced )
1 teaspoon ginger ( fresh finely grated )
2 tablespoons water
210 g rice

Instructions

1.In a small bowl, whisk together cornflour, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, black bean sauce, and Chinese five spice powder to make the marinade.
2.Add the sliced lamb to the marinade, stir to coat well, and set aside for 10 minutes.
3.In a large wok or frying pan, heat olive oil over high heat.
4.Add the marinated lamb and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
5.Add onion, mushrooms, celery, zucchini, carrots, Chinese cabbage, garlic, and ginger to the same pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.
6.Return the cooked lamb to the pan and stir to combine. Pour in 2 tablespoons of water, stir again, and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
7.Serve hot with steaming rice.
